Harbor FYI connects needs, kindness, and community in one trusted place.
Harbor FYI connects people who need support with people ready to help. Through simple Serve and Support paths, Harbor brings neighbors, nonprofits, churches, businesses, volunteers, resources, and safe local assistance together in one trusted community.
Harbor FYI is looking for people and organizations who want to help turn this community resource into something real. We are seeking app developers, programmers, designers, nonprofits, churches, local businesses, community leaders, service providers, volunteers, and people with lived experience who can help us develop, test, improve, and launch Harbor.
Whether you can contribute technical skills, community knowledge, resources, partnerships, ideas, or simply help us identify what people in our community truly need, we would love to hear from you.

Harbor FYI is being developed as a trusted community platform that helps connect people who need support with people, organizations, churches, businesses, and volunteers who are ready to help.
The app is built around two simple starting points:
I Can Serve
People can offer time, skills, transportation, meals, clothing, household items, temporary lodging support, mentoring, volunteer work, sponsorship, or other resources.
I Need Support
People can ask for practical help such as food, transportation, hygiene supplies, clothing, lodging assistance, moving help, family resources, recovery support, or connection with local services.
Our first goal is to create a simple working Harbor prototype that proves the idea.
The first version should include:
Serve and Support portals
A community map showing available help and needs
Basic user profiles
Searchable categories
Ability to post an offer or request
Messaging or a safe way to connect
Location or service-radius options
Community organizations and businesses listed as resources
The focus will be on making Harbor easy enough that someone can understand it within seconds.
As Harbor grows, safety and trust will become a major part of the platform.
Planned features include:
Verified nonprofits, churches, businesses, and service providers
User verification where appropriate
Reviews and community history
Background checks for certain higher-risk or vulnerable services
Privacy controls for sensitive requests
Reporting and moderation tools
Safe ways to communicate without publicly exposing personal information
Some services, especially those involving children, vulnerable adults, transportation, housing, or private homes, may require stronger verification before users can participate.
The map can become one of Harbor's most important tools.
Instead of searching dozens of websites or calling multiple organizations, someone could open Harbor and see nearby:
Food assistance
Transportation
Clothing
Showers and laundry
Temporary lodging resources
Community events
Churches
Nonprofits
Volunteers
Businesses offering assistance
Resource centers
Available donations
Safe community spaces
People offering help could also see needs in their area and respond directly.
Harbor is not intended to replace existing nonprofits or community organizations.
The goal is to connect the gaps between them.
We want Harbor to become a shared community tool used by:
Nonprofits
Churches
Schools
Local businesses
Shelters
Community resource organizations
Volunteers
Service providers
Municipal and county organizations
Families and individuals
Organizations could eventually maintain their own Harbor profiles showing available services, hours, eligibility, current needs, volunteer opportunities, and events.
A future Harbor feature could create a network of verified safe places throughout the community.
These could include participating churches, businesses, nonprofits, hotels, motels, and community organizations.
Examples could include:
Verified temporary safe spaces
Emergency resource locations
Participating hotels or motels offering approved vouchers
Locations where someone can safely wait for transportation
Family support locations
Domestic violence and crisis-resource connections
Sensitive locations would never need to be publicly exposed when doing so could place someone at risk.
Eventually Harbor could help intelligently match needs with available resources.
For example:
Someone requests transportation.
Harbor could identify nearby verified volunteers, churches, organizations, or transportation resources that may be able to help.
Someone needs children's clothing.
Harbor could identify an organization, family, church, or community member who recently posted those items.
A business has excess food.
Harbor could help connect it with a nonprofit or outreach team that can distribute it.
The technology should assist the community, not replace human judgment or relationships.
Our long-term vision is for Harbor FYI to become a trusted bridge between people who want to help and people who need help.
Not another directory.
Not another social-media platform.
A practical community tool that helps turn:
resources into relationships,
offers into action,
and needs into real support.
Harbor FYI: Where needs and service meet.
