Sailing FYI is a flagship program of Foundations FYI, created to strengthen individuals, families, and youth through meaningful experiences on the water. We believe that some of life's greatest lessons are learned outside the classroom—through teamwork, communication, leadership, responsibility, and adventure.

Sailing is more than a recreational activity. It teaches trust, problem-solving, resilience, and confidence while creating lasting memories that bring families closer together.

Our goal is to provide safe, educational, and inspiring sailing experiences that encourage personal growth, strengthen relationships, and foster a deeper appreciation for nature, community, and one another.

Whether it's a family's first time stepping aboard a sailboat or an experienced sailor mentoring the next generation, every voyage is an opportunity to build stronger foundations for life.

Sailing FYI exists to strengthen families, empower youth, and inspire personal growth through the transformative experience of sailing. By providing hands-on learning, teamwork, mentorship, and adventure, we help participants develop confidence, communication, leadership, and resilience while building meaningful relationships on and off the water.

As a program of Foundations FYI, we are committed to making sailing accessible to individuals and families from all backgrounds, creating opportunities that restore dignity, build hope, and strengthen our community—one voyage at a time.

About Sailing FYI

Founded in 2018, Sailing FYI has been introducing individuals, families, and youth to the beauty and challenge of sailing on Flathead Lake, one of the most spectacular freshwater lakes in the United States.

What began as a passion for sharing the freedom of sailing has grown into a community-focused program dedicated to helping people build confidence, strengthen relationships, and create lasting memories through hands-on experiences on the water.

Sailing teaches far more than how to harness the wind. It develops communication, teamwork, leadership, patience, responsibility, and problem-solving—skills that extend well beyond the boat and into everyday life. Every outing provides opportunities for participants to work together, overcome challenges, and experience the rewards of trust and cooperation.

As a proud program of Foundations FYI, Sailing FYI supports our broader mission of restoring dignity, building hope, and connecting our community. We strive to make sailing accessible to individuals and families from all walks of life, including those who may never have had the opportunity to experience it before.

Since 2018, we have had the privilege of sharing Flathead Lake with families, youth, veterans, volunteers, and community members, using sailing as a platform for education, personal growth, and meaningful connection.
